INPHANTRY Co-Founders Kevin Lee and Derek Tran recently spoke with Charged Retail about the role of technology in the world of retail, and how AR, if done effectively, can be a powerful way to extend experiences beyond store walls and truly engage shoppers.
“With the native capabilities of today’s smartphones, retailers and brands can allow consumers to ‘try on’ products in their home or virtually anywhere,” says Tran.
However, he also argues that AR alone won’t cut it for today’s savvy consumers.
“It has to be a meaningful experience that engages the user and helps tell the brand’s story. If it’s just tech for the sake of tech, it’s going to feel like a gimmick. Today’s consumers can smell that right away and they won’t be inclined to take notice.”
