WTBR’s “On Silent Ice” Android Docuseries Episode Tops SHOOT Music Tracks Chart
What does the world of a Deaf hockey player sound like? Where the Buffalo Roam (WTBR) explored this unique experience with audiences through “On Silent Ice,” the first episode of ’s “Behind Human Is” docuseries by Android.
The score has been honored as number one on SHOOT’s quarterly Top Music Tracks list for 2020.
JR Narrows of Brooklyn-based Space Lute served as composer, audio director, sound supervisor and sound designer for “On Silent Ice.” Baritone saxophone and drums can be felt almost as much as they are heard, Narrows tells SHOOT, explaining the significance of these instruments in the score.
“Designing sound for a surreal, action-sports piece through the perspective of our hero Anthony, a Deaf person, was a unique challenge,” he said. “How does one design suspense and motion within a limited sonicscape? How does someone do this justice, especially without relying on silence?”
